I currently serve as an Economist at the International Monetary Fund. I am a macroeconomist with over a decade of experience in fiscal policy, taxation, and macro-related climate policy across the IMF, World Bank, and leading research institutions. My work focuses on environmental economics, particularly in the areas of climate mitigation (taxes and subsidies), air quality, and energy.
At the IMF, I currently assess climate-driven macro risks, shape RST-linked reforms, serve as a surveillance reviewer, and contribute to operationalize and improve the design of the RST. My career spans research, policy implementation, and technical assistance—translating complex economic challenges into well-designed policies in developing economies.
I’ve co-authored key policy papers, developed new analytical frameworks like the Total Carbon Price (TCP), and led capacity-building programs for Ministries of Finance and Central Banks. I have as a government official in Mexico at the Ministry of Finance, the National Institute of Ecology and Climate Change, and the Centro Mario Molina.
I was born and raised in Mexico, where I earned a BA in economics at the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de Mexico (ITAM). I later earned a Master’s degree in public policy from the Hertie School in Berlin and PhD in economics from the Humboldt University in Berlin.
